The lustrous hardwood Tamboti (Spirotachys Africana), commonly called African Sandalwood, is used by the Ju/'hoansi San to create beautifully carved jewelry. The wood has a warm musky fragrance. Skill and artistry go into the design of each unique piece.
Some of the steps in the creation of a piece of Tamboti jewellery are illustrated below.
